AFCON 2025 – Round 2 Betting Insights
The second round of Africa Cup of Nations group games is always important. Teams either take control of their group or start feeling the pressure. This is usually a good moment to focus on safer options rather than chasing big odds.
We’ve chosen four AFCON Round 2 matches – these selections are about stability, form, and tournament logic, the kind of bets that make sense over the long run!
Angola vs Zimbabwe, 26th December 2025 (13:30 CET)
Prediction: Angola @1.75
Both teams lost their opening matches, so this game already feels like a must-not-lose situation.
Angola were beaten 2–1 by South Africa but didn’t look completely out of place, but still continued a trend of incostistency that has followed them into this tournament. They usually do better in their second group game and have avoided defeat at this stage in most of their recent AFCON appearances. With Egypt waiting in the final round, Angola know they need something here.
Zimbabwe, meanwhile, earned plenty of respect in their opener against Egypt, but they still left with nothing. Their overall form is worrying, with only two wins in their last 18 games, which doesn’t isnpire confidence when pressure rises.
Angola are not perfect, but they are the more reliable side. Backing Angola to avoid defeat is the best choice.

Egypt vs South Africa, 26th December 2025 (16:00 CET)
Prediction: Over 1.5 Goals @1.50
Egypt dominated their match against Zimbabwe but still conceded and needed a late goal to win. They create plenty of chances but don’t always defend well. Five of their last six matches have seen both teams score – the attacking quality is there, but so are the gaps.
South Africa are in good form and don’t usually sit back completely, even against stronger teams. They’ve shown they can score when given space – they come into this match with a long unbeaten run and the confidene is there.
Instead of picking a winner, going for at least two goals in the match feels like the safest option.
Senegal vs DR Congo, 27th December 2025 (16:00 CET)
Prediction: Senegal to Win @1.72
This is arguably the best fixture of the round — two teams who both won on matchday one, both in excellent form, and both with knockout ambitions.
Senegal looked very strong in their 3–0 win over Botswana and continue to score goals regularly. They are one of the tournament favourites and usually start games well, scoring freely. They appear hungry to reclaim the AFCON crown they won in 2021.
DR Congo are also in great form and have won six matches in a row, but Senegal are a step up in quality. The historical matchup doesn’t favour them either, with Senegal unbeaten in the last eight meetings.
It won’t be easy, but Senegal have the quality to take all three points.

Nigeria vs Tunisia, 27th December 2025 (21:00 CET)
Prediction: Ademola Lookman – Over 0.5 Shots on Target @1.66
Nigeria looked solid against Tanzania and have been very consistent in AFCON group stages. They don’t always start fast, but they are hard to beat – they have lost just once in their last eight competitive matches!
Tunisia finally shook off their opening-day curse with a convincing win over Uganda and look far more confident than they did previously. Still, consistency against elite opponents has been their weakness, and Nigeria’s physical presence and attacking depth often causes them problems.
This match could be tight, with neither side wanting to lose; Nigeria or draw offers good protection and makes sense as a low-risk pick.
Conclusion
AFCON group games are often close and tense, especially in round two – they’re about timing, pressure, and game management. Our four selections focus on teams that are either expected to control the match or simply avoid defeat.
As always with tournament football, patience and discipline matter more than chasing big odds.
