Trabzonspor kick off their Super Lig campaign at home against newly promoted Kocaelispor, a side returning to the top flight after more than a decade away.

The hosts come into the season with a mixed bag of pre-season results – comfortable wins over Umraniyespor and Zob Ahan, but also a surprising 2–3 loss to Araz and a couple of draws. Abdullah Avcı’s men will look to tighten up defensively but have shown enough attacking sharpness to be confident against a promoted opponent.

Kocaelispor, on the other hand, arrive full of momentum. They finished their 1. Lig campaign strong and carried that form into pre-season, thrashing Adana Demirspor 5–0 and comfortably beating Wydad 2–0. Their attacking style could pose problems, though facing a top-tier side away from home will be a far sterner test than recent outings.
